This made me laugh: from the Wall Street Journal.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Efforts to figure out what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 were clouded by conflicting reports about whether radar tracked the plane hundreds of miles off course before it went missing Saturday.
A senior Malaysian air force official on Tuesday rejected local-media reports that military radar had picked up signals from the jet over the Strait of Malacca. The official said the plane dropped off radar midway between Vietnamese and Malaysian airspace as it was apparently turning back from its original course.
The official said that searches near the strait, which is much farther west, were mostly precautionary.
After four days of fruitless searching, the consensus among aviation experts seems to be that searchers haven’t looked in the right areas. Whether the plane broke up in midair or dropped largely intact into the water, various pieces would have been left behind.
In other news, experts recently announced that if you cannot find something, it is probably lost.
